We are delighted to announce that as part of the expansion of Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) nationwide, the Central London team was successful in obtaining an additional MHST which is due to commence in October 2022.
EMHPs play a key role as members of the Mental Health Support Teams, who have the responsibility for delivering schools’ overarching approach to providing mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people. If you have the skills, qualification and are passionate about the work you do, we would like to hear from you.
Our MHSTs support families and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems. The MHST is co-located in schools, operating from one of the main geographical hubs, with services delivered across the cluster of schools for each area within the City of Westminster.

The service offers a wide variety of parent workshops, groups and whole class and year group workshops as part of a whole school approach to mental health.
As a trainee EMHP you will be expected to work under supervision as part of a dynamic integrated mental health team. This approach requires creativity, flexibility and adaptability, and above all a passion for working with children and young people in educational settings.
About you
We are looking to recruit 4 trainee EMHPs. Training will be provided at UCL/Anna Freud Centre, and they will be involved in recruitment.
Over the course of the training year, you will, under supervision, develop knowledge and practice skills to employ a range of evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health problems via direct individual and group support for children, young people and their parents.
The Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner is required to show evidence of ability to study successfully at postgraduate level and evidence of prior experience working with children and young people is preferred.
Although not essential, it would also be preferable if you could demonstrate a broad understanding of mental health and emotional wellbeing issues combined with an ability to form a good helping relationship with children and young people facing such problems.
